The Gallipoli Peninsula is where the 1915 Gallipoli Campaign was fought — the defining moment for Australia and New Zealand, and the birth of the ANZAC legend. Within a day’s drive of Istanbul, you stand at ANZAC Cove where Allied troops landed on 25 April, walk the ridges of Chunuk Bair, and pay respects at memorials shared by three nations. Pair this with Troy — the UNESCO-listed ancient city of Homer’s Iliad, a site of nine civilisations spanning 4,000 years — and a single road trip from Istanbul covers two of the most historically charged sites in the world.
Private, TURSAB-licensed and tailor-made — every tour is planned and run by a local team here in Turkey, not an overseas agency.
A local team based in Turkey that knows the guides, the drivers and the right hotel in every region — you book direct, with no middlemen.
All-inclusive quotes with hotels, transfers, guides, entry fees — no surprise add-ons. What you see is what you pay.
Your Turkish trip manager is one WhatsApp message away — airport pickups, restaurant tweaks, last-minute changes, handled.
Everything you need to know to plan your private Gallipoli & Troy tour from Istanbul.
A full-day Gallipoli tour from Istanbul takes approximately 12–14 hours door to door: the drive to the peninsula is ~5 hours each way via the Osmangazi Bridge, leaving 4–5 hours on the battlefields. Our Private Gallipoli Day Trip (from USD 430) covers ANZAC Cove, Lone Pine, Chunuk Bair and the Turkish memorials with a licensed local guide. If you want to add Troy without rushing, the 2-day itinerary is the stronger choice.
Yes — both sites sit within the same region of northwestern Turkey, roughly 30 kilometres apart near Çanakkale. Our Private 2-Day Gallipoli and Troy Tour (from USD 820) covers the full Gallipoli battlefield circuit on day one, stays overnight in Çanakkale, then visits Troy UNESCO World Heritage Site and the famous Trojan Horse replica on day two before returning to Istanbul. Attempting both in a single day from Istanbul is not recommended — it leaves fewer than 2 hours at each site.
By road: approximately 5 hours from Istanbul via the Osmangazi Bridge and the D200 highway through Tekirdağ — no flight is needed or available for this route. All our Gallipoli tours use a private air-conditioned vehicle with a licensed local guide, so the drive becomes part of the experience rather than a transfer. There is no direct train service to the peninsula; public buses exist but require a ferry crossing and add 2–3 hours. Private road transfer is the standard choice for international visitors.
25 April is ANZAC Day — Australia and New Zealand's national day of remembrance. The dawn service begins at approximately 5:30 AM at Anzac Cove, followed by a separate ceremony at Lone Pine (Australian Memorial) and Chunuk Bair (New Zealand Memorial). Attendance runs into the thousands, predominantly Australian and New Zealand visitors. The Turkish 57th Regiment and Çanakkale Martyrs' Memorial hold concurrent Turkish ceremonies. Accommodation in Çanakkale sells out 6–12 months ahead for this date — book early if your travel is timed to 25 April.
Troy is a UNESCO World Heritage Site containing nine distinct cities stacked on the same hill over 4,000 years of continuous occupation, from the early Bronze Age through Roman times. The excavated Bronze Age walls, the scale model of the ancient citadel and the Trojan Horse replica at the entrance give younger visitors an immediate reference point to Homer's Iliad. The site museum (opened 2018) adds strong context with artefacts from each layer. Visited as part of the 2-day Gallipoli and Troy tour, Troy typically takes 2–3 hours with a licensed local guide.
Two private ways to walk the 1915 ANZAC battlefields and ancient Troy — a full-day road trip from Istanbul, or a 2-day tour with an overnight on the Dardanelles.
